On some of our snowiest days I have self-described my outfits as "looks like I'm wearing nothing under my coat--but I'm not!" to friends. I don't know what it is but when the snow looks especially heavy and I plan on walking a lot I'm loathe to put on something as impractical as a dress, but find constricting jeans equally unappealing and thus end up in a pair of shorts which disappear behind my coats. Comfort clothes mean different things to different people. I think I'll always feel most at home in a dress, but there's something about shorts with tights and some serious boots that make me feel ready to take on the world in a completely different way.
