Do you remember by "stylish movies" post on The Mummy (1999 version of course!) I wrote last year? I consider Evie a big style influence, but you might not always be able to tell from my outfits! She wore a lot of white and khaki throughout the film and a number of menswear inspired pieces; she's the only woman in a world dominated by men, so it makes sense that she tries to establish her authority and show that she belongs on the expedition through her fashion choices. As I put this outfit together I instantly got Evie vibes, perhaps a bit of O'Connell as well with my suspenders, but the inspiration was all Evie. Watching films like that one remind me how classic and practical neutrals are. I already love cream and white dresses and blouses, but other than that I tend to wear a lot of color which for me changes by season. A red dress catches my eye in a store, but a neutral piece doesn't grab my attention as much...but I'm starting to think it should. A simple natural linen skirt like this is timeless and season-less. It will look classic and chic now amongst the autumn leaves and still suit spring's greens and summer's sunshine. I can pair it with sandals or layer leggings and boots underneath, match it with a cozy sweater or a ruffly off-the-shoulder blouse. My classic skirt is by Voriagh, an ethical fashion brand based out of France. I've been wearing their clothes for a few years now and I love how often they focus on classic pieces and natural fabrics.
