When I saw Voriagh's spring/summer collection I immediately got hobbit vibes from the clothes. Voriagh has always been a folk inspired brand, in fact many of their pieces are made with local artisans and this collection with the linen bodices, lace-front dresses, and billowy blouses felt like the most beautiful combination of those vintage and folk vibes. It felt like a timely and more cottagecore response to the Bridgerton fad of corsets as well--with a bodice like this you get a similar fitted effect over a flowing dress, but in a more natural and relaxed way. The Alma bodice I'm wearing is made of linen. Someone on Instagram recently called it "peasant princess" and I feel like that is the perfect title: it looks romantic to modern eyes, but really the inspiration is simplicity, functional pieces, and is very grounded. I also love the way it transformed this classic dress I wore in the autumn--back then it reminded me of Pre-Raphaelite muses, but styled this way feels pure hobbit.
The last time I wore this dress the fields were golden and the woods were copper. I actually took pictures in this dress right outside this patch of woods; it's a favorite place to wander while walking Solomon since it's close to our house and usually a quieter corner even in spring when the wood garlic carpets the ground. I'm always amazed there aren't more people on this path--although I'm grateful as well for the quiet and the chance to listen to the birds when walking through here. This time of year I often bring a basket with me and walk home with a few foraged goods--a handful of wild garlic leaves, a few violets or forget-me-nots to decorate cookies and cakes or a bouquet of cow parsley to make a flower crown.
