While I wear every color of the rainbow, I have to say yellow is my favorite to wear. It's always such a happy color. I don't always find pieces I love in yellow however, so I was very excited to see Emmy Design Sweden's new collection with it's walking skirts and matching waistcoats that came in so many lovely, summery shades--marigold yellow included! I actually got the gentlewoman waistcoat in yellow to match the vixen voyager skirt. I wanted to create something a bit Edwardian feeling, but in a cheerful color, however when I put the pieces together it just didn't feel right for the season. Both pieces were lovely and I loved them separately but together they felt a bit formal when I was craving something that felt more relaxed and in sync with the sporadic bursts of color in nature right now. So I decided to split them up and wear them separately--the waistcoat is a perfect cincher over a flowy dress--and the skirt adds a perfect pop of color to a more neutral outfit. This look makes me feel like a summer hobbit adventuring through the Shire!

All the wild fields near my home have filled with meadow buttercups; I love how sporadic and wild they grow. This is one of the field's on my in-laws farm so I was free to gather some cow parsley from the hedges and buttercups to make flower crowns and bouquets for my house. I love bringing pieces of nature into my home even if wildflowers are a bit fleeting. The crowns never last long, but I've been pleasantly surprised by how long the bouquets last in a vase. Cutting the stems at an angle and using warm water seems to help them last a wee bit longer before they fade.
