I always like seeing the new collections every season from my favorite independent brands. It's fun to see the new pieces they've released, but it's also such good styling inspiration. Emmy Design Sweden's latest autumn collection is titled Edwardian Essence and while the collection features their classic skater cardigans and tweed-y pieces the brand is known for, there's also a fresh Edwardian inspired spin with dramatic full length skirts, quirky knickerbockers, and my favorite piece--a classic cycling sweater. I love a dramatic sleeve, but such silhouettes are usually reserved for dresses or blouses, not often seen classic, vintage sweaters with leg-of-mutton sleeves and it's an amazing replication of that antique style crafted in 100% merino wool that is so soft and warm. I've already worn this jumper with jeans and more casual looks, but I wanted to style it in a more classic way with one of Emmy's tweedy skirts as a nod to the original inspiration--I even brought my bicycle out! I'm wearing the cycling sweater in rust, but it also comes in cream, black, burgundy, and green. I think I mention this every time I wear an Emmy Design piece, but I love that they do vintage inspired pieces that are very everyday wearable--this sweater has a dramatic sleeve, but it's still so suitable for autumn walks, you don't need a special occasion to wear a cozy sweater. Their clothes are stylish, but also practical, comfortable, and never feel too fancy for the everyday.
